On Saturday my Mum took me out for the day to have a ladies lunch at Kitchen by Mike in Rosebery. The canteen style dining hall is set up in a trendy warehouse, with a laid back simplistic vibe. You choose from the selection of meals they have on offer, which they make fresh daily and depending on what is in season at the market. I enjoyed a zucchini quiche and apple slaw, while my Mum indulged in a beetroot salad and pumpkin, onion and rocket on fresh bread. We both washed our meals down with a fresh lime vanilla lemonade, which was bottled in the most cutest bottles.
Across the way from Kitchen by Mike was a small pastry shop called Black Star Pastry which offered some of the most exquisite cakes and pastry's. Here my Mum and I enjoyed an afternoon coffee and shared a slice of watermelon cake - watermelon in a cake can sound odd but it definitely was delicious and somewhat refreshing (and no pic of the watermelon cake as it was devoured too quickly).
